Mandates and the Consent of the Governed

Here at Reality Is Truth we like to try always to deal with the realities of any given situation or any given moment in time. These times, in regard to COVID-19 restrictions and mandates, are a great example of Thomas Jefferson's famous statement related to the "consent of the governed". 

This idea, in a very real way, defined our nation and caught fire spreading around the world. It is truly the overriding truth of societies generally. Even dictatorships will fall when the governed decide they have had enough. Well, Liberal or Conservative, people have had enough.

The Reality is that today, roughly 2 years into this COVID overreaction, people are ignoring requirements and mandates on a grand scale. Even the Left, who politically still loudly support mandates ignore them (as we saw during the Super Bowl. In fact, the adherence to mandates has been dead for months now and in a very real way have only acted to prove to everyone that the mandates and requirements are not needed anymore.



When we look at this video from The Daily Wire, it rings true. Most reasonable people who listen to these Canadian truckers, who really have been one of the hardest hit industries in North America, what they are saying rings true. Truckers if you will, are the literal "poster child" for nonsensical COVID-19 mandates. Even if the justifications given to us by government for the mandates and regulations were accurate (they are not) Truckers are the most unlikely workers in a society to spread and infect anyone. Alone in their trucks for literally days-on-end these folks have been given mandates for masks and vaccination that threaten their ability to earn a living and in a very real way have broken the supply chain for the economy. 

These government bureaucracies that are led by petty little Socialist men and women who have lived their whole lives in the shadow of strong larger-than-life innovative Capitalists are always like that little kid in school, who no one really likes, when given a little power moves quickly to abuse it and lord over everyone in his or her path because of their own self-importance.

It's over petty dictators, the people have spoken. It's time to face the reality that today COVID is here to stay, it is dangerous to less than 1/2 of 1% of those who get it and we must learn to live with it.

Admit it or not, we have to face the fact, we are in a literal war with China.

Years ago, we were given a gift of two ATVs that were made in China. On the surface, it seemed like quite an amazing gift. Unfortunately, in a matter of months, we realized that you kind of get what you pay for. Now, 10 years later, Chinese ATVs still leave something to be desired, yet they sell big. For the consumer, they’re cheap, in many cases, 1/3 the price of more reputable and well-known brands. For the Chinese companies that sell them, they’re cheap to manufacture and cheap to sell.
